Unpacking Your Fine Art Print
Supplies You’ll Need:
A clean, flat surface (like a table or countertop)
Cotton gloves (optional, to avoid fingerprints)
Flat, clean weights (like heavy books, or a soft, clean towel if weights aren’t available)
Acid-free tissue paper (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Prepare Your Workspace
Clear a clean, flat surface to lay your print. If you’re wearing gloves, put them on to keep oils and fingerprints off the artwork.
Carefully Open the Shipping Tube
Gently remove any caps or tape from the tube.
Slide out the print slowly without bending it. If there’s a paper wrap around the print, carefully peel it off to reveal the artwork.
Unroll the Print
Lay the print on your flat surface, image side up, and let it relax naturally for a minute.
If the print doesn’t lie flat right away, don’t worry—handling it carefully is key.
Flatten with Weights
Place acid-free tissue paper or a soft towel on each corner to protect the print.
Use your weights on each corner, allowing the print to flatten gradually over a few hours. Avoid using any hard, direct pressure on the artwork itself.
Leave Overnight if Necessary
If it’s still curling, leave the weights overnight for more relaxed flattening. Keep the space undisturbed to avoid any accidental damage.
Framing or Storing
Once flat, your print is ready for framing! If you’re not framing it immediately, store it in a flat, dry space to keep it pristine.
